Mr. Leonard Orth, Special Education Director for Lockwood School and the Eastern Yellowstone Special Services Cooperative, was honored by the Montana Conference of Education Leadership in Billings on October 16, 2008. Mr. Orth was presented with the G.V. Ericksen Award. This is the highest award and acclaim that an administrator can earn in the State of Montana.

Mr. Orth has been with the district since 1988 and provides assistance with education funding, inservice programming, legal matters related to SPED, and oversees the delivery of special services to member districts' nearly 3,500 students.

Lockwood School Board Receives Award
The Lockwood School Board received their nineteenth consecutive
Golden Gavel Award from the Montana School Board Association at its meeting in October 2008. Achieving the Golden Gavel Award requires a major commitment of time for the Lockwood Trustees. Not only do they attend to all of the business in the district, but they must attend classes to receive this award. Every Trustee on the Board must receive a minimum number of credits for this honor.

We are very proud of their dedication to our educational community. Learn more about the awards won by our outstanding board here>>.
