Principal Leadership Awards

Winners of the 2013-14 school year Principal Leadership awards were sixth grader Skyylar Staton and eighth grader Emily Reimche. The girls were honored at a luncheon at the YMCA in May.

Lockwood Kindergarten Teacher is Selected for a Gold Star Award

WhitneyKindergarten teacher Whitney DiFronzo is the winner of the Gold Star Teacher Award. Look for her segment to be broadcast on the First News at 5 throughout the month at various times. She received money to help purchase teaching supplies, an award plaque, and other gifts.

Eileen Johnson Middle School Teachers Win First Interstate-Q2
One-Class-at-a-Time Grant

Congratulations to Marcia Meyer and Tom Vanderbeck on winning a First Interstate-Q2 One Class at a Time Grant. They will use the money for a project on Greek pottery. They did a great job putting their proposal together and are very deserving.

National Junior Honor Society

Eileen Johnson Middle School has 27 8th grade students who made the cut and "passed the grade" of the 2014 National Junior Honor Society. These requirements include a 3.6+ GPA as the scholarship leg, leadership, citizenship, character and service are the rest-just like the National Honor Society in high school. We celebrate them with their induction on May 15 and treat them to a day off school May 16. It's not easy with all the pressures of middle school to attain this and they represent Lockwood School well! These students are: Ashton Albright, Chris Arbizzani, Greg Bonner, Courtnie Brown, Abby Davis, Morgan Emond, Shyla Evig, Tara Finley, Ashlyn Halsten, Caleb Johnson, Areya Klasna, Glory Konecny, Cassie Langton, Kristen McCarthy, Matt Miller, Kaylee Millhollin, Leah Mundt, Megan Myers, Emily Reimche, Racey Reynolds, Melinda Shaffer, Julia Smith, Beth Taylor, Tate Thompson, Shelby Tuttle, Krissy VanderVoort, Tristin Welter.

Lockwood Seventh Grader Wins Gold Medal at Big Sky State Games

DustyAt Eileen Johnson Middle School there is a student, Dusty Baewer, who is a figure skater who skates at Centennial Ice Arena. He won a gold medal on April 12th at the Big Sky State Winter Games. Dusty's skating moves included a scratch spin, one foot spin, a regular two foot backward crossover (both directions) and an inside three turn.

Lockwood Third Grader Wins at Science Fair

Third grade Lockwood student Sydney Wagner entered the science fair in the spring of 2014. Her experiment title was "The Germiest Place in My Classroom". There were almost 340 entrants grades 1-12. Sydney won first place for Best Health & Human Performance Related Science Project for grades 1-8. She won $35.

If you are wondering, she tested a computer mouse, door handle, drinking fountain, community pencil, and the back of a chair. The germiest place was the back of a chair.

2014 Lockwood Spelling Bee Winners

Spelling Bee WinnersThe District Spelling Bee was held on Thursday, February 13. Congratulations to Brynne Dotson for taking first place in the Lockwood Spelling Bee today. Dan Lindskog took second place, and third place went to Julia Smith. Lily Morris took fourth. These fine spellers will compete in the Yellowstone County Bee on March 1 at MSU-B. Thank you to all of the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who participated.

Lockwood special education teacher Kim Shanks and paraprofessional Michelle Prange have been awarded the Montana Paraprofessional/Teacher Team of the Year for Region 3 from the Comprehensive System of Personnel Development council. Congratulations to these fine teachers!


Lego Team WinnerLegos Robotic Team

On February 1, David Lockrem and members of the Legos Robotic team from
MSU-B competed in Bozeman. His team took first place in competition and first place in team work. Way to represent Lockwood School, David!


VFW Essay Contest Winners

Essay Contest Winners
Glorian Konecny won first place and Tara Finley and Briahana Gerard tied for second place in the VFW's "What Patriotism Means to Me" essay contest. Mrs. Kneib was also honored by the Lady's Auxiliary for her work with this writing project.


Lockwood Board Wins 24th Consecutive Golden Gavel Award!

Congratulations to the 2012-2013 Lockwood School Board consisting of Tim Sather, Tamara Spillum, Sue Vinton, Caree Bernhart, Don Reed, Peter Freivalds, Jason Hamrick. They will be awarded the Golden Gavel Award. This is the 24
th consecutive year that the Lockwood School Board has received this award. The award will be presented during the Opening General Session at MCEL on Thursday, October 17. The Golden Gavel Award is bestowed on those districts whose entire board became “Certified” in the same 12-month period.
