Third grade Lockwood student Sydney Wagner entered the science fair in the spring of 2014. Her experiment title was "The Germiest Place in My Classroom". There were almost 340 entrants grades 1-12. Sydney won first place for Best Health & Human Performance Related Science Project for grades 1-8. She won $35.
If you are wondering, she tested a computer mouse, door handle, drinking fountain, community pencil, and the back of a chair. The germiest place was the back of a chair.
2014 Lockwood Spelling Bee Winners
The District Spelling Bee was held on Thursday, February 13. Congratulations to Brynne Dotson for taking first place in the Lockwood Spelling Bee today. Dan Lindskog took second place, and third place went to Julia Smith. Lily Morris took fourth. These fine spellers will compete in the Yellowstone County Bee on March 1 at MSU-B. Thank you to all of the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who participated.

Lockwood special education teacher Kim Shanks and paraprofessional Michelle Prange have been awarded the Montana Paraprofessional/Teacher Team of the Year for Region 3 from the Comprehensive System of Personnel Development council. Congratulations to these fine teachers!
Legos Robotic Team
On February 1, David Lockrem and members of the Legos Robotic team from
MSU-B competed in Bozeman. His team took first place in competition and first place in team work. Way to represent Lockwood School, David!
VFW Essay Contest Winners
Glorian Konecny won first place and Tara Finley and Briahana Gerard tied for second place in the VFW's "What Patriotism Means to Me" essay contest. Mrs. Kneib was also honored by the Lady's Auxiliary for her work with this writing project.
Lockwood Board Wins 24th Consecutive Golden Gavel Award!
Congratulations to the 2012-2013 Lockwood School Board consisting of Tim Sather, Tamara Spillum, Sue Vinton, Caree Bernhart, Don Reed, Peter Freivalds, Jason Hamrick. They will be awarded the Golden Gavel Award. This is the 24th consecutive year that the Lockwood School Board has received this award. The award will be presented during the Opening General Session at MCEL on Thursday, October 17. The Golden Gavel Award is bestowed on those districts whose entire board became “Certified” in the same 12-month period.
