Special Meeting

Any person present who wishes to address the board or raise any question about public school district matters or governing policies may do so under public participation. No discussion of personnel or individual students is permitted at this time. A limit of three minutes is placed on each speaker. Persons who want more time may make arrangements to be placed on a future agenda. The public is also reminded that they may provide input on all motions being considered by the board at this meeting.

Meeting Minutes

Call to order

Chair Tim Sather opened the Building Committee Work Session meeting at 12:05 p.m. and began with leading those present in the Pledge Allegiance.

The following trustees/committee members and officers were present: Trustees Tim Sather, Scott Kiekover, Superintendent Tobin Novasio and District Clerk Laurie Noonkester. Trustee Kat Luhman attended the meeting. Collaborative Design Architects Nick Pancheau, Jeff Kanning, Mark Qualman with Quest Cost Estimating and Evelyn Pyburn with the Yellowstone County News was also in attendance. Trustee/Committee Member Pamela Ask was absent.

The Building Committee/Trustees met in a work session to review the information presented from Collaborative Design.

Items discussed upon where:

Superintendent Novasio noted the law changes requiring the Trustees to set a ballot bond amount by February 27, 2018 which would require a special meeting on February 26, 2018 to be held to comply with the election timeline.
  1. Programming Discussion – Architect Nick Pancheau updated site plans, realistic floor plans and building costs. Classroom wing layouts are grouped by subject. The Building Committee asked the Architectural team to cut design and seating to cut the cost by about 30%. Lengthy discussion on reducing areas to cut costs was held.

  2. Next Steps – Building Committee Meeting to bring pricing options will be held next Friday. February 9, 2018 at 12:00 p.m.
