Special Meeting

Any person present who wishes to address the board or raise any question about public school district matters or governing policies may do so under public participation. No discussion of personnel or individual students is permitted at this time. A limit of three minutes is placed on each speaker. Persons who want more time may make arrangements to be placed on a future agenda. The public is also reminded that they may provide input on all motions being considered by the board at this meeting.

Meeting Minutes

Call to order

Chair Tim Sather opened the Building Committee Work Session meeting at 12:04 p.m. and began with leading those present in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The following trustees/committee members and officers were present: Trustees Tim Sather, Scott Kiekover, Superintendent Tobin Novasio and District Clerk Laurie Noonkester. Trustee Joe Borgstrom attended the meeting. Collaborative Design Architects Nick Pancheau, Jeff Kanning, Mark Qualman with Quest Cost Estimating and Evelyn Pyburn with the Yellowstone County News and Dan Carter with ExxonMobil were also in attendance. Trustee/Committee Member Pamela Ask was absent.

The Building Committee/Trustees met in a work session to review the information presented from Collaborative Design.

Items reported upon where:

  1. Feedback from Community Meeting - Discussion was held regarding the surprising majority consensus of building the larger facilities that follow the original design concept first submitted to the public. Architect Nick Pancheau reviewed the summary notes from the Wednesday February 7th community meeting. He noted the community meeting members discussed building items listing tagging those as more or less important. After discussion the attendees of the meeting voted for the 49,500,000 option with one attendee voting for the other pricing options. Architect Jeff Kanning reviewed the cost option document used at the community meeting

  2. Programming Discussion - Collaborative Design Architect sought direction from the Committee which price option should be used in for the design process. The Building Committee directed the Architectural Team to proceed with the 49,500,000 option as chosen by the Community Meeting consensus.

  3. Cost Discussion - Various building item reductions and option costs were discussed.

  4. Next Steps - Building Committee Meeting to finalize pricing options will be held next Friday. February 23, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. These figures will be taken to the full Board of Trustees for a Special Board Meeting to complete wording for the May 8th School/Bond Election. The Next Community Meeting will be held on February 21, 2018, 6:00 p.m in the Administration Board Room.
